TI - Treasure Island Resort Hotel and Casino Press Release

Tangerine Opens at TI
Sweetening Las Vegas Nightlife
Release Date: July 4, 2004

Lounge, Nightclub with Burlesque Performances Opens July 4 Weekend

A touch of barroom burlesque sweetens Las Vegas’ newest nightspot: Tangerine Lounge & Nightclub at Treasure Island.

Carmen Electra inaugurated the burlesque bar at Tangerine Fourth of July weekend with a steamy performance, setting the stage for a seductive staff of beautiful bartenders and burlesque dancers to tantalize guests with the hottest new trend in entertainment as pin-up girls come to life. Tangerine features an indoor lounge and outdoor deck, plus a DJ spinning rock and dance with musical interludes highlighting the burlesque revue.

Leaving just enough to the imagination, Tangerine’s burlesque performances feature the speakeasy style of the 1920s. Bodacious one-song acts captivate guests as bombshell performers spice things up, shimmying from evening attire down to barely-there garter belts.

“The burlesque performers create such an incredible experience for guests” says Jennifer Worthington, co-owner of Tangerine. “They are sultry, audacious and fun; an extraordinary addition to the nightclub experience.”

With its deck overlooking Sirens’ Cove, Tangerine offers premium views of the steamy Sirens of TI performances and the Las Vegas Strip. Tangerine is all about daiquiris and steel drums during the daytime – and then becomes a sexy, dynamic nightclub and lounge at night. International architectural firm Graft Lab designed Tangerine with subdued orange, amber and earth-tone hues, blurring the line between lounge and nightclub, and from the intimate interior to the open deck.

The development of Tangerine is the next phase in TI’s dramatic evolution into one of the Strip’s hottest resorts. “Developing a nightclub concept that holds the high standards of TI was a necessarily arduous process,” says Tom Mikulich, president and chief operating officer of TI, “The result is Tangerine, and it makes TI one of the nation’s premier nightlife destinations.”

The lounge is open from Tuesday through Saturday starting at 5 p.m., and the deck is open daily beginning at 11 a.m. Every Wednesday night Tangerine hosts “Moonshine,” a club night under the stars on the moonlit deck. Bottle service will be available. For more information about Tangerine, including employment and special event inquiries, call (702) 212-8140.

Tangerine is a partnership between TI and partners Jennifer Worthington and Robert Frey. Worthington moved to Las Vegas after leaving her position as a senior vice president with Jerry Bruckheimer Films to form a partnership with Frey to develop innovative nightlife concepts. Their first project, Coyote Ugly Bar & Dance Saloon, was inspired by Worthington’s association with the film, and opened at New York-New York Hotel & Casino in November 2001. They then opened BiKiNiS Beach & Dance Club in October 2002 and Coyote Ugly Bar & Dance Saloon in Washington, D.C. this February. Tangerine, an upscale lounge and nightlife incorporating burlesque performances, marks their progression to launch a new realm of Las Vegas nightlife.

Treasure Island is the Las Vegas destination for those seeking a sophisticated resort experience coupled with the energy and excitement for which the city is known. TI guests enjoy fashionable Four Diamond accommodations, an elegant lobby and a high-energy pool highlighted by luxurious new cabanas and exotic cocktails. The “Sirens of TI” features a clash between a group of beautiful, tempting sirens and a band of renegade pirates. The resort also features dynamic restaurants, tempting nightlife and one of the city’s best entertainment options, Cirque du Soleil’s Mystère, featuring an international cast of dancers, singers, musicians, champion-caliber acrobats and a misguided clown. Treasure Island is a wholly owned subsidiary of MGM MIRAGE ä .
