Paul McCartney returns to Las Vegas and the MGM Grand Garden Arena to rock with ‘US,’ the all new Beatles, Wings and solo concert tour. The tour, which will coincide with a new McCartney recording, will highlight all the classics as well as some of his newest songs. The Friday, Nov. 25 and Saturday, Nov. 26 concerts are scheduled to begin at 8 p.m.
Tickets priced at $250, $175 and $100, not including applicable service charges and taxes, go on sale Saturday, April 23 at 10 a.m. at the MGM Grand Garden Arena box office. Tickets also will be sold at all Las Vegas Ticketmaster locations (Tower Records/WOW!, Smith’s Food and Drug Centers, Robinsons-May stores and Ritmo Latino) and ticket sales are limited to eight (8) per person. Wristband distribution will begin Saturday, April 23 at 6 a.m. and end at 9 a.m. A random number will then be drawn and a line-up will be in sequential order beginning with the random number selected. “I’m looking forward to hitting the road again and to rocking with all my friends in Vegas,” said McCartney. “We had so much fun there the last time, that we figured we had to go back for more.”
This will mark the sixth time in McCartney’s musical career that he has performed in Las Vegas. The first came as a member of The Beatles, their second ever on U.S. soil, Aug. 20, 1964 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. While Wings never performed in Las Vegas, McCartney returned to open his ‘New World’ Tour at the Sam Boyd Silver Bowl April 14, 1993. He followed with three performances at the MGM Grand Garden Arena April 5 and 6, 2002 and again Oct. 26.
Richard Sturm, president and chief operating officer for MGM MIRAGE Sports and Entertainment stated, “We are truly excited to have Paul McCartney celebrate Thanksgiving weekend at MGM Grand. Mr. McCartney is a legend in the music industry and continues, to this day, to entertain fans throughout the world.”
‘US’ will rock and roll through 28 performances spanning a nearly 11-week period before its close Nov. 29 at Los Angeles’ STAPLES Center. Highlights include Las Vegas, as well as performances in Seattle and Miami, where fans will celebrate McCartney’s return after more then a dozen years, along with Omaha and Des Moines where McCartney has never performed.
Since his return to the stage in 2002, McCartney has thrilled millions around the world with his live concert events. If his appearance at Superbowl XXXIX or his last concert in front of 125,000 muddied fans at England’s prestigious Glastonbury Festival (NME Magazine’s Best Event for 2005) are any indication, fans can expect to see another groundbreaking production for ‘US.’ McCartney’s band mates Abe Laboriel, Jr. (drums), Rusty Anderson (guitar), Brian Ray (guitar and bass) and Paul “Wix” Wickens (keyboards) are set to return for ‘US.’
Lexus will be the presenting sponsor of the ‘US’ Tour. For more information about ‘US’ go to www.paulmccartney.com.
