|SISTERS ARE THE WOMEN BEHIND THE MEN IN `LA CAGE’ - ONE’S A LAWYER
January 5, 2006
Dancers add production value to female celebrity impersonators’ acts at Riviera. Laura and Michelle Boezeman are sisters who dance in “An Evening at La Cage” nightly at the Riviera and while both are college graduates Laura is a licensed attorney and that’s her day job. Laura explained, “My father was an attorney in Michigan where we grew up and he now lives here with our mother in Las Vegas. We all migrated here including my younger sister and older brother. It only took me two-and-a-half years to get my law degree at UNLV’s Boyd School of Law because I went during the summers. I’ve been in `La Cage’ for eight years this coming February. I moved to Las Vegas in June of 1995. I auditioned and went to Aruba to do `La Cage ’ in December of 1995 and worked there for a year or so. When I returned to Las Vegas in 1997, I began working in `La Cage’ at the Riviera in February of 1998. I went to school at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan for my bachelor's degree.” She explained,
“By day I work in real estate law for an investment company in Las Vegas. It's lucrative and the people are nice. I passed the State Bar in July of 2003. I was a swing dancer (part time) in `La Cage’ while I was studying law and had to live with my parents to make my living expenses cheaper. My bachelor degree is in criminology and now I work seven days a week.” Laura said, “I like dancing but know I will have to enter another field so I took the steps to secure my future. I am two years older then my sister Michelle. I always knew I wanted to be a lawyer but love dancing. My brother owns a sprinkler and landscaping company in Las Vegas. Our mother started us in dance school at age five. We never imagined we'd be dancing the world's greatest celebrity female impersonator show.”
Michelle Boezeman said, “I’m the younger sister and have been working in `La Cage’ for about three years. I’m 5’9” and she’s 5’7.” I have a degree in criminal justice but I’m interested in going back to school for nursing. That will probably be in the fall. I like the medical field. I enjoy performing in `La Cage.’ I want to be a deejay in the nightclubs so that’s another ambition because I like music especially techno electronic house music. That's the best.” Michelle said, “I bought a crotch rocket motorcycle and I'm trying to learn some stunts on the streets. It’s a lot of fun. The problem was that I got about three tickets in six weeks.” She laughed and said, “I really like working with my sister. We used to live together but that was a little too much. But it’s cool just working together. Our dad is getting near retirement but he’s an attorney here in Las Vegas. We are from a small town in the southwest corner of Michigan. We all wanted to get away from the cold winters and the snow.”
