Las Vegas Flamingo Hotel Review

If you're planning one of your first trips to Las Vegas, the Flamingo is a good hotel to consider because it's right in the middle of the Strip and within easy walking distance to Caesars Palace (across the street), Bellagio, Paris, The Mirage, Treasure Island and The Venetian. Not only that, but the Las Vegas Monorail has a boarding station on property at the Flamingo that can take you to many of the other popular resorts on the Strip.

The Flamingo is also a good choice if you like to hang out by the pool. The pool area at the Flamingo is one of the nicest that you'll find in all of Las Vegas featuring four separate pools with slides, waterfalls and two hot tubs. The tropical surroundings include a poolside restaurant called The Beach Club and private cabanas with televisions, phones and changing rooms are available for full day rentals.

The Wildlife Habitat located near the pools is worth seeing even if you aren't staying at the Flamingo. The habitat has more than 300 birds such as Chilean flamingos, African penguins, swans and ducks. You'll also find Koi fish and turtles that live on the islands and in the streams that are surrounded by waterfalls and lush foliage that's imported from around the world. And best of all, the Wildlife Habitat is free!

Our room at the Flamingo was nice, but there wasn't anything special about it. It was no more or no less than what you would expect at any nice hotel in Las Vegas. If you like the night life (or good cheeseburgers), make sure you visit Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville at the Flamingo. They had a live band and lots of people on the dance floor when I visited on a Sunday night. Other entertainment options on property include Gladys Knight, The Second City Comedy Club and comedian George Wallace.

During our visit, we had dinner at the Pink Ginger which features Pan Asian food. Although the food wasn't bad, it's not likely that we would eat there again with all the other choices that are available in Las Vegas. Other fine dining options at the Flamingo include Hamada of Japan, Venturo's Italian Cuisine and Conrad's Steakhouse.

The location of the Flamingo is just about as good as it gets and since it's not the newest hotel on the Strip, they usually offer better deals on their rooms than their mega resort neighbors.
